Out soon or now or sometime are Eagle vs Shark and Superbad.  The former stars Jemaine Clement from Flight of the Conchords, the greatest comedy since Arrested Development, and the latter stars Michael Cera from Arrested Development.  They also both had hands in writing I think.  Yeah, go see them.

I’m rubbish

Sorry for my lackingness of late. But I am rubbish. Really rubbish. And it’s hard to keep up with music what with being incredibly busy and hot. So I give you this instead. Life changing stuff.

Sunday 21st July- Jetlagged musings on travelling.

I would like to start this short and somewhat rushed post with an apology. I am sorry for skipping the last two weeks. I did plan a replacement but he seems to have disappeared. I was actually in sunny Canada for the past two and a half weeks. Whilst England was waiting for summer to start, a glorious heat wave hit the BC area. I was in heaven. I probably owe you all another apology for rubbing my wonderful good fortune in your faces. It was truly a good holiday despite spending way too much time on Facebook when I was struck by BC boredom. It really is the worst kind of boredom. (more…)

In other music news…

…I was wrong about ‘Boxer’. You may recall a few weeks back I gave a review proclaiming The National’s latest LP to be disappointing. I apologise to all who read that. I should have seen it coming. It was the same with Alligator. It’s taken months but I have learned to love it. It is a most wonderful album that shall definitely feature come the end of year top 10. It was a 6.8 (by no means a shoddy score), but that can easily be raised by 2 points. For it is indeed sublime. Forgive me for ever doubting you Matt Berninger. Forgive me.

Just an update

Filed under: Uncategorized — Ames @ 9:52 am

Apologies for my lack of post this weekend- two exams last week, an essay due in and just general stress/ tiredness meant that it wasn’t something that was particularly high on my list of priorities. Hopefully I’ll be back this weekend though… you’ll just have to wait and see.

Anyway, some of you may recall an article I wrote about the judicial system, or apparent lack of in Britain. For those of you who aren’t up for reading the whole article, basically it involved someone attacking my friend (he has quite a noticeable scar under his eye, and his hand was in a cast for a while as a result). This was infront of two police officers who have both testified that the offender was guilty, which has been corroborated by other eye witness reports. The offender originally pleaded guilty. He since changed this to not-guilty because apparently he was drunk at the time of giving a statement (despite the fact that police use breathalisers to check you’re in a fit state to testify… OK then).

For some reason that we don’t know at the moment, the charges have been dropped against him. He gets off absolutely scott free and is perfectly able to wonder the streets and do exactly the same to the next person who he happens to not like the look of after a few pints.

Well done British judicial system, well done…

Sunday 29th April 2007- “C’mon,baby do the loco-motion”

I’m currently in the midst of revising for my A Levels and realised, on Friday after a particularly hellish Chemistry mock exam, that barring a miracle, I am fucked. As a result, I have been put on a self imposed ‘lockdown’ (the opposite of Akon’s popular song, no less.)
A condition of my ‘locked down’ status (you’re totally saying that in a high voice, now aren’t you?) is that I rid myself of any distractions and focus primarily on my revision. This means I shall be utterly unable to research for and write my articles, so until June 25th; I will be taking a hiatus from writing for the Patch. I can hear the sobs from here.

In an effort to make you all miss me, I shall just ramble on a bit, this week. I haven’t actually had time to read anything interesting or formulate a plan as to what I will cover this week, so instead, I’m going to ramble and slip in bits of news. My rambling train of thoughts are supposedly entertaining for my friends, and let’s see if it translates as well on to the computer.

I am well known amongst my friends for being a little bit odd. To talk to me is to be bombarded with sarcasm and pop culture references, ranging from the joys of listening to Busted to the finer points of ‘sass’ demonstrated by Katherine Hepburn. Surely, I’m not the only one who has that kind of brainstem?

Thursday 8th February – An Apology x2

Filed under: Uncategorized — Phil @ 12:17 am

I’m sorry about last week, I was not well.
I am sorry about this week, I have tried writing a coherent article but the antibiotics are currently making me all bloated and I cannot come up with the quality you deserve.

I promise I shall give you something very special soon to make up for this. I have not been schooling or working either, so I’m not just treating this as low-priority. I have all the time in the world, right now, I just can’t concentrate enough to do anything with it.

I’m sorry again.
